OPERATION HELD IN SYDENHAM TO MAKE SOUTH EAST TRANSPORT HUBS SAFER |
||
An operation involving the British Transport Police and Officers from the Metropolitan Police Lewisham branch took place at Sydenham Train Station recently. Officers from across the two police branches were stationed at the rail line targeting violent crime offenders, misuse of drugs and anti-social behaviour. A spokesperson from the British Transport Police stated "There have been a number of stop and searches at the location in the past. Those stopped or arrested have been a mixture of local people or from further afield suggesting that transport hubs are links to bringing anti-social behaviour to the area". Officers ran the operation for 3 hours and the station accompanied by two police dogs trained in detection. A British Transport Police Spokesperson stated "This was a good joint working multi-agency operation, and it was great to have Metropolitan Police on board to help us gather intel so we can adapt and improve these operations going forward for the future". After the 3 hours, Lewisham area police officers gained: 1x arrest for possession of a knife Officers across the South east continue to tackle anti-social behaviour | ||
